Smith Lisa

My name is Lisa Smith, and I am the preschool director and lead teacher. I have a Bachelor’s degree in child development from Central Michigan University and have been working in the field for the past twenty years. I taught preschool for four years, had an in-home daycare for ten years, and have been teaching at St. Peter since 2017. I am very excited to be back in the classroom working with your children. My husband Troy and I live in Westphalia with our three kids, Ava, Hayden, and Colton. Ava is an 11th grader at Pewamo-Westphalia, Hayden is an 8th grader at Pewamo-Westphalia, and Colton is a 5th grader at St. Mary’s. I enjoy spending time with my family and attending my children’s sporting events. We also love spending time up north and in the Upper Peninsula. During our free time, we are usually playing cards, watch sports, or enjoying the outdoors. I have worked with children ages six weeks to ten years, and this has given me very beneficial teaching experience. I am currently responsible for writing newsletters and lesson plans, implementing developmentally appropriate activities in the classroom, conducting parent-teacher conferences, and working with students and parents daily. I believe that structure and routine are very important parts of running a preschool classroom. I also have spent a great deal of time assessing individual children’s strengths and weaknesses to enable them to be as successful as possible during their preschool years. Each child is different and I think it is very important to use a variety of teaching methods to ensure their developmental growth. I look forward to getting to know you and your child and am excited to work with them throughout their preschool experience.

“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6

Blessings Always,
