Statement of Purpose
It is our purpose at St. Peter Lutheran School to help parents in the spiritual, social and intellectual development of their child. (“Bring up your children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” Ephesians 6:4). |
 |
We believe that each child is a unique gift of God and that a relationship with God should be fully integrated into the life of every student. We are committed to providing a strong academic environment that nurtures lifelong learners and encourages all children to become productive, Christian citizens. |
We believe that St. Peter Lutheran School is part of the mission of St. Peter Lutheran Church, therefore; |
V We believe that we are called to proclaim God’s love and God’s will for all people. We seek to provide a Christ-centered learning environment where all students can discover and develop their God-given gifts, so that their lives may be a blessing to God, to themselves, and to the world. |
V We believe that St. Peter Lutheran School is a mission agency for St. Peter Lutheran Church in being able to reach children and their families who have no religious background. |
V We believe that St. Peter Lutheran School is able to teach every subject from a Christian point of view reflecting the Spirit of the Savior and, therefore, makes Him the focal point of the educational process. In order to serve the Lord with their abilities and talents the students are taught that they have good reason to learn of God’s orderly creation (mathematical, biological and physical sciences), God’s continual working in the affairs of the world around us (social sciences), and what better reason for learning to communicate well (language arts) so to share God’s word of peace and promises with others. |
V We believe that the future of the church and nation, under the providential hand of God, depends on the quality Christ centered education for children. |
Enrollment Policy |
St. Peter Lutheran School is open to all students who desire a Christ-centered education for their children. St. Peter Lutheran School admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges and programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions, policies, scholarships and loan programs, athletic and other school administered programs. |
Applications for enrollment are made to the principal. Applications will be evaluated by the principal and submitted to the School Board for acceptance or denial. If an application is accepted, the family is asked to submit the registration fee which will hold the child’s place. Registration fees are non-refundable, except in extenuating circumstances. |
All pupils entering the school obligate themselves to take the required courses offered in the curriculum, including those religious programs offered by the school. Pupils must follow the school rules and regulations. Pupils are expected to participate in all school activities such as: plays, choir, Advent service and etc. |
Parents who are not members of the Lutheran church are encouraged to attend classes on the teachings of the Lutheran church so that they may understand the principles of Christianity which their children will be taught. Pastor conducts these classes throughout the year. |
All parents are required to attend an orientation meeting prior to the beginning of the school year, at which time tuition should be paid or arrangements made to pay them, and any questions will be answered. |
Children enrolling in Kindergarten or First grade must have attained the age of five or six by December 1 of the year he or she starts school. The State of Michigan requires all children entering school for the first time to receive a physical examination and to have the proper immunizations. |
Tuition and Fees |
The expense of operating St. Peter Lutheran School is supported by generous contributions of the entire congregation at St. Peter Lutheran Church. Therefore members of St. Peter Lutheran Church do not pay additional tuition, but as they decide on their monetary return to God, they should be mindful of the fact that the cost for operating the Christian Day School is in excess of $3000 per student. The exercise of good Christian stewardship on the part of its members will allow us to operate its various programs, including the school, at optimum efficiency. The School Board reviews and determines, annually, tuition and educational fees upon recommendation from the budget committee. |
Tuition fees should be paid to the principal during the orientation meeting prior to the start of school or an optional payment plan include: |
² Full payment at the orientation meeting |
² Quarterly: Orientation meeting, November 15, February 15 & April 15. |
² Monthly: 10 payments of equal amount by the fifteenth of each month, beginning at orientation meeting. |
In case of financial difficulty, the School Board can be contacted for alternate arrangements and application for financial aid. |
Calendar and Schedules |
St. Peter Lutheran School follows the St. Johns Public School calendar as closely as possible for major holidays such as Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas break, spring break, Good Friday and Memorial Day. |
School hours are determined when bus schedules are set up in the fall. School begins when the first bus arrives and ends when the last bus picks the student up. |
