Missions

The church is always about mission. Each of us is part of God’s family, his church, because someone invited us, someone taught us, and someone welcomed us in. We who have been given life by that Word of God are now entrusted with the task of bringing the power of that Word to others. The measure of any ministry is found in both its faithfulness to the truth of God’s Word and the sharing of God’s love with others.

Mission sometimes takes place in the local community, but in the small world in which we live it often goes beyond. This applies what Jesus said in Acts 1:You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the world.” St. Peter has always taken seriously this responsibility.

Almost 10% of all our offerings are given to ministries beyond ourselves. This commitment allows us to support the work others are doing all around the world. This simple gift allows us to be part of taking the good news of Jesus to those beyond our community.

TIM Missionary

St. Peter actively supports the work of Pastor David Erber and his family in Nigeria. You may read the latest of his letters to us about life there by clicking here.

Short term mission trips

Short term mission trips are an integral part of ministry at St. Peter. We have sent people on 9 different foreign mission teams in the last 11 years. We have served people in six different foreign countries thru eye glass clinics, construction projects, and Vacation Bible Schools. We never know who is more blessed—us or the people we have served.
The latest mission trip in which adults took part in was a construction team sent to Maturin, Venezuela in April of 2005. Five men from St. Peter were on this team of 16. Click here to see a photo album of this trip.
Plans are now under way for a mission trip to be taken in 2007 or 2008. We are excited to think of where God might send us next and what that mission’s purpose might be.

Youth mission trips

Jr. and Sr. high youth go on annual mission trips. Some are to places within the United States. Every other year we try to go outside the states. In 2005 the youth went to Juarez, Mexico and built a house for a family. View the Mexico mission trip here (coming soon). This July the youth are going to serve on an Indian reservation in South Dakota. We are getting excited as the plans begin to unfold.
