First German Lutheran Church of Dallas formed
1861
Name changed to St Peter Congregation aka Evangelical Protestant Church
Jan 7, 1869
Voters approved resolution to become St Peter Evangelical Lutheran Congregation

Rev Joseph Schmidt called to be first pastor
1869
Jacob Nuffer donated land for simple wooden church in Dallas Township
1878
Agreed to divide church with 1 building in Dallas township, 1 in Fowler, maintaining 1 congregation and 1 pastor

Purchased land in Riley Township
July 15,1888
Cornerstone laid for present church building

Congregation officially split into St Peter, Riley and St Paul, Fowler

Schoolhouse added to parsonage for German school

Purchased first organ, (5 octave reed) for $90

Ladies Aid established
Early 1920’s
Began to conduct English service on alternate Sundays, others remained in German

First English confirmation of students (10 in English, 2 still in German)

Parish hall built

Young Peoples Society formed (Walther League)

Spouses began sitting together, formerly men sat on one side of church and women on the other

Electricity installed

English service every Sunday, early German service on 2nd & 4th Sundays

Opened Lutheran Day School with 23 students, replacing German school & becoming 100th Lutheran parochial school in Michigan

Built school and hired first teacher

German services phased out

Installed pipe organ

Added parking lot

LWML organized

Added 20 ft to church along with major renovations
