Food pantry- The day school is hosting a food drive for the month of October to help fill our shelves for the upcoming holiday food baskets. The students were challenged to bring in at least 200 items by the end of the month. If this goal is reached they will be treated to a pizza party lunch.
Soup kitchen- December 14 is the next date we are scheduled to serve at Christ Lutheran’s soup kitchen along with the annual giving room. The Anderson’s have graciously offered to cover the cost of the fruit St. Peter will continue to donate each time we serve.
Blood Drive- Charlie and Teresa Silm have agreed to coordinate. October 23 is the next date. Brie from the Red Cross has offered to attend the blood drive to touch base with the Silms.
“Serving the People at Your Door” community dialog- October is domestic violence month and Beacon of Hope in St. Johns is hosting an informational afternoon featuring presentations by law enforcement, therapists and counselors from our community with the intention to better equip churches yo address domestic violence. This is scheduled for October 23 beginning at noon. I hope to attend.
TCOA- No progress in this area. I would like to have a better understanding of the direction our kitchen situation is going before I make the second phone call regarding freezer meals and a senior luncheon site.
Yours in Christ,
